12Do you charge extra fees for an emergency dental appointment?
No, in the vast majority of cases, we do not charge any extra "emergency fee" just to see you on short notice. You will only pay our standard consultation fee and the cost of any actual treatment provided on the day. For emergency guidelines, visit our Emergency Dentist page.
13What should I do if I knock out a tooth?

Dental Treatments & Procedures
14Are X-rays required for an accurate dental diagnosis?
Yes, in most cases, dental X-rays are absolutely necessary for a comprehensive diagnosis. They allow our dentists to see underlying issues invisible to the naked eye, such as hidden infections, decay between teeth, or broken roots. X-rays ensure we treat the root cause of your dental problem effectively.
15How often should I visit the dentist for a routine check-up?
We recommend visiting the dentist for a routine check-up every 6 months. Regular exams help us catch potential problems early, saving you from complex procedures and pain in the future. Schedule your next exam via our Check-Up page.
16Do you offer cosmetic dentistry like composite bonding?
Yes, we offer a wide range of cosmetic dentistry services, including highly popular composite bonding. This pain-free procedure can repair chipped teeth, close gaps, and completely transform your smile in just one visit. Read more about it on our Composite Bonding page.
17Does composite bonding damage my natural teeth?
No. Composite bonding is a minimally invasive cosmetic treatment: the tooth-coloured composite resin is applied directly to the surface of your tooth, so in most cases there is no drilling or shaving of your healthy natural tooth structure. Read more on our Composite Bonding page.
18How much does composite bonding cost in Dublin?
At DentiCare Dublin 7, composite bonding costs €180–€250 per tooth. The exact cost depends on the number of teeth involved, and at your consultation we give you a clear, upfront quote with no hidden fees. Composite bonding is eligible for 20% tax relief, and you can spread the cost with Humm finance. See all our fees on our Pricing page.
19Is the dental implant procedure painful?
No, the dental implant procedure is not painful as it is performed under profound local anaesthesia. Most of our patients report feeling only minor pressure during the surgery, and post-operative discomfort is usually easily managed with standard painkillers. Discover more about our Dental Implants.
20How long do the results of teeth whitening last?
The results of professional teeth whitening typically last between 1 to 3 years. However, this heavily depends on your lifestyle habits, such as smoking or consuming coffee, tea, and red wine. Maintaining good oral hygiene will help prolong your bright smile.
21Do you treat children at your clinic?
Yes, we happily welcome children and provide gentle paediatric dental care. We believe that building a positive relationship with the dentist from a young age is crucial for lifelong oral health. Bring your little ones in for a friendly check-up!
22What are the common signs that I might need a root canal?
The most common signs include severe, throbbing tooth pain, prolonged sensitivity to hot or cold, and swelling of the gums around the affected tooth. If you experience any of these symptoms, the nerve of your tooth might be infected. Please visit our Root Canal page for more information.
23Is root canal treatment painful?
We understand this common fear, but with modern local anaesthetics and gentle techniques, root canal treatment at DentiCare feels very similar to having a standard filling. In fact, a root canal is designed to relieve the severe pain you are already experiencing from an infected tooth. Learn more about our Root Canal Treatment.
24Am I a suitable candidate for clear aligners?
Most adults and teenagers with mild to moderate teeth crowding or spacing issues are excellent candidates for clear aligners. However, the only way to know for sure is to have a professional assessment. We invite you to book an orthodontic consultation with our team.
25What is the difference between a standard scale and polish and deep cleaning?
A standard scale and polish removes plaque and tartar from the visible surfaces of your teeth above the gum line. A deep cleaning (root planing) is a specialised treatment needed for gum disease, where we clean beneath the gum line to remove bacteria from the tooth roots.
